Memorial Day - Salute to the Veterans

In summer of 2010 I was commissioned to create a custom work for the new Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital in Lincoln, IL that opened in March of 2011. This piece can proudly be viewed at the cross hall between the Wombacher and Board Room in the new Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital. I was greatly honored to find that the title dedicated to the hanging piece is Salute to the Veterans.

This custom piece focuses on the American flag that overhangs Interstate 55 just north of Lawndale. It was created on a day that was intermixed with storms and rains which add to the idea and symbolism that our troops and our nation have faced many storms in our short history but we continue face adversity and push forward.
