Henry Crib

On the second day of my bike tour in 2012, I rode west out of Henry, IL and pedaled into the early summer's heat. There weren't many clouds for the start of the day nor were there many trees next to the road (its kind of a shame that all of the trees that once dotted homesteads and some of the roads have been plowed under for more tillage.) I came upon this this old crib and caught a little shade from this tree that overhangs on the left. I liked how the old crib sat there, it and the tree as perhaps the only remnants of what was maybe a larger farmstead that has long been forgotten. I do like how their long standing attributes are met with the fresh shoots in the field next to it though. A freshness of life every year.
