Tin Roof Barn
On one of the many days that I headed to the country to bicycle, I took a route previously unknown to me. On this route, I came to a line of shade trees and took rest across the way from this old barn. I loved how the warmth of the sun overhead hit the roof of the barn and also brought a great deal of vibrancy to the grasses that the farmer allowed to gracefully go wild. Unless it is a dangerous intersection, I much prefer that the grass grow tall and bring a sense of wildness back to root, bringing curves, motion and growth.
So, the ‘barn charm’ has got you too. :) Though this particular shelter has that eerie charm, much more if the grass grew taller as you fancied, it is still nostalgically attractive. Do you know how old it is?
ReplyDeleteOh, yes, the barns have me. There is something about them. I think of the craftsmanship that went into it as well as the importance that it served. I agree that there is a degree of nostalgia mixed in as well. Plus it seems to be in a place of quietness and calm in what is perceived to be a faster paced world. I don't know very much about the barn and I don't know how old it is.
DeleteThat barn is really wonderful. I'm so impressed on how you captured it so dramatically. This simple barn look mysteriously enigmatic in the middle of the field, against the gray sky that added some magic to its character.

DeleteThanks for capturing this wonder, D Punke. This is really impressive. It reminds me of Dorothy's house in Kansas, the one that was thrown by the great hurricane. And from Elizabeth's word, it's really magical. In physical aspect, the barn's wooden frame made a perfect symmetry with the tin roof that lies overhead.

Thanks Julio for commenting. I could see where this would be reminiscent of Dorothy's homestead and maybe that ability to transport your mind there is part of the magical part. Good observation on the framing as well. I think the curves of the grass counter this well.
